Ukraine has confirmed withdrawal from Soledar in Donetsk Oblast after months-long Russian assault. The Ukrainian military claims to have killed 910 Russian soldiers and destroyed 9 tanks on January 24. Meanwhile, German Chancellor Scholz has confirmed the delivery of 14 Leopard tanks to Ukraine, giving green light for other nations to deliver. US President Biden has also announced 31 M1 Abrams tanks for Kyiv, worth $400 million. Biden said that the US intends to help Ukraine “defend its sovereignty” and there is “no offensive threat”. Russia’s ambassador to Germany has criticised Berlin’s decision to approve deliveries of Leopard tanks to Kyiv.
